I have spent The last couple of days seriously considering what a privilege it has been for me to have spent my whole life with a brother like Don. Even though our choice of careers kept us far from each other, we managed to get together quite frequently. Together with our brother Bob,We all served our country during World War II. I attended 3 colleges, and Don spent time with me, up to a week at each one them. Due to the closeness of are ages, we started the same day and graduated the same day from NHS. Enjoyed playing all sports for Northville Central. Our Dad, Claude, who worked 43 yrs for the telephone Co. taught us how to Hunt, fish, and trap. We continued these activities throughout the years, As well as playing on several of the best baseball teams in the area. These included Many of the outlying areas. Don played for third base for The Savage Arms team in Utica, while working as a machinist making machine guns for the army.
Don and I were able to spend serious time together in the last couple of years, recalling the fun and fellowship we and our families enjoyed together. We supported each other throughout our careers. In fact, Don and his family came and lived with Marion,Paul and I in McGraw while I was in college in Cortland State. Don took an apprenticeship machine training there. We both played baseball and softball in the Tompkins county league.
Don Parker played the perfect role for what a true brother could and should be.We were born less than a year apart.Don woould have been 92 on July21. As it turned out we are both 91.

Grandpa Parker was a great man and his strong sense of humor will be greatly missed by all the lifes that he touched. He was a charm to have around and there wasn't a day that didn't go by that you didn't laugh in his presence. I just wish i could have more time to get to know him. I will just have to cherish the memories that we had when were together: like the saratoga races trying to tell him that me and my sister had to pay to use the bathroom he told us to climb under the door. Thanks Pat for taking care of grandpa may he rest in peace he will be greatly missed by all
