Obituary of Roger M. Dunn
Mr. Roger M. Dunn, age 86, of Gloversville, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Folts Home in Herkimer, NY.
He was born on May 14, 1923 in Gloversville, the son of the late Frank and Alice Malumphy Dunn. A 1941 graduate of Gloversville Highe School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Lexington II.
Roger was owner of Dunday´s Clothiers in Gloversville for many years. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He was a member of Pine Brook Golf Club, where he also worked part-time in the Pro Shop. He was also a member of the Owl and Pond Chuuck-A-Muck Hunting and Fishing Club. Roger and his wife Carolyn were snowbirds in Lake Suzy, Florida for 16 years where he was a member of the Kingsway Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn J. Grey Dunn, whom he married on April 6, 1946; a son, Robert J. Dunn Joan of Gloversville; two brothers, Gene Dunn of Gloversville and Clark Dunn Janice of Davenport, FL; a grandson, Matthew R. Dunn Lauri of Watertown; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Francis Dunn, Clyde Dunn, William Dunn and Louise Querbes.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 10:45 a.m. Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Algonquin Cemetery, Wells. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the
