Obituary of Ronald G. Lawrence

Ronald G. Lawrence Sr., 92, of Gloversville passed away at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady on Friday August 21, 2009 from injuries sustained in a fall, three weeks earlier. Mr. Lawrence was born February 28, 1917 in Gloversville. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1935. On July 18, 1943 he married the former Corrine Priolo who survives. They had one son, Ronald G. Lawrence Jr. who also survives. Ron served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. In his early years Ron worked for Farharts Garage as a service manager. Then after several years he went on to become the service manager at Rose Buick. Ron retired from Longwell Chevrolet as both the service manager and parts man. Ron was an active member St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. He served as an usher for many, many years. At the age of 92, many people could not believe his age, as he was very active and spry. His "crew cut" helped belie his age. In addition to his wife and son, Ron is survived by his sisters-in-law Rosemarie Loucks and Geri Scocco, his brother-in-law Phil Priolo Mary, and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents George and Mae Putman Lawrence, and his sisters Guyla Walrath and Helen Lawrence. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 24, 2009 at 10 a.m., at St Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating.
