Obituary of Joseph DeCintio

Joseph DeCintio, 93, of Route 30, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the E.L. Wilkinson, RHCF in Amsterdam. He was born in Tuckahoe, NY August 19, 1916 a son of the late Massimo and Maria Capritti DeCintio who had immigrated to the United States from Italy just before his birth. Joseph lived in various areas of New York State throughout his life, mostly in the New York City and Long Island areas. He married the former Elizabeth M. "Betty" Cronin on December 10, 1941 at St. John the Martyr Roman Catholic Church in New York City. He and his wife resided in Maine until her passing when he moved back to New York State to reside in Amsterdam, where he made many friends and spent the remainder of his years. Joseph loved his family and was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He had a passion for traveling and enjoyed drawing in his free time. His loving family includes his son, Joseph R. DeCintio and wife Georgina of Long Island. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Prayer Service with the Catholic Rite of Committal will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with Fr. David Wm. Mickiewicz, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the family plot in Maine.
