Obituary of Evelyn W. Coppola

Amsterdam/Montgomery County Evelyn W. Coppola, 86, formerly of Elizabeth Street and Bunn Street, passed away peacefully Monday, August 24, 2009 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. She was born in Amsterdam June 16, 1923 the last surviving child of the late James and Margaret Weir Rogers. Evelyn was a life resident of the area and attended local schools. She spent most of her career working for various mills in the area until her retirement in the 1970's. She married Robert Coppola of Amsterdam in 1954 who predeceased her November 4, 1971. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amsterdam and enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and their children whom she treated as her own children. Her loving family includes her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth, Margaret and Helen and her brothers James, Lewis, John and Elmer. Funeral Services will be at 10:00AM on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Kenneth Bonnett of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Hagaman Cemetery.
