Obituary of Dorothy Agnes McCallum
Dorothy A. McCallum 89, of the Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa., passed into her eternal rest Monday morning at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Yonkers, NY on August 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Risk Wisnieff. She attended schools in Mt. Vernon, NY. Moving to Delaware in the 1970?s, she retired from the Avon Company as a representative in 1985. She then moved to Fultonville.
Dorothy ?Dottie? was known for her independent spirit and her ability to make people laugh. She brightened Maplewood Manor with her feisty, humorous ways. She loved dogs, traveling to vacation at Cape Cod, reading and doing crossword puzzles. If you wanted to make Dottie like you instantly, all you had to do was give her chocolate. She was friendly to everyone, and made you feel like a close friend the moment she met you.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith.
In 1938 she married Vincent McCallum. He died in 1990. She also lost a son Ronald McCallum , a daughter Barbara, a sister Marian and brother Walter.
She leaves her daughter in law, Donna McCallum of the Town Of Amsterdam; sister, Helen White of Cobleskill; niece, Roberta Kaye of Gulf Port Florida; nephews, Larry White of Boswell, Pa. and Al Murray of Asheville, N.C.; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services are Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday prior to the service. Contributions may be made in her name to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home office.
