I just learned of Dick's passing today. I have such fond memories of him from high school days. Joyce Shull Amsterdam class of 1965 sent out an email and we thank her for making us Maggie & me aware of Dick's passing. We are so sorry for your loss. When I was in high school Mohonasen my parents and Dick's parents had camps up at Sacandaga about a half mile apart. I got to know both Dick and Bob Spaide while up there. Dick sold me tickets to a dance at Amsterdam High School, where I met Maggie McKeever 45 years ago. So, I have to be very thankful to Dick for getting me to Amsterdam to meet the love of my life.

I was sadden to read that Dick has passed away. Dick had a smile that could not be missed. He often greeted us with his brillant smile, and a big hello. We all have had many years of fun boating and riding our snowmobiles together. We will treasure the short time that we spent with Dick.
Dick is in heaven, free of pain and suffering, waiting on that big lake at heavens dock for the rest of us to arrive.
We will think of him often. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God Bless.....

Dear Bobbie,Brian,and Stella,
We want you to know that you have been in our thoughts and prayers for many weeks. We wished there was something more we could have done to make this painful journey easier to bare, as we know how heart wrenching it can be. So it's with sad hearts that we realize that one of our dear West Bush neighbors will no longer walk among us. But please take comfort that Dick is now free from suffering and is with the angels. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
With Deepest Sympathy,

Dick was a true friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. After reading the following poem I know we can all say that Dick would be proud of the way he spent his dash.
The Dash
by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of his birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
