Joanie,
Just found out that Joel passed away. We roomed together at Dugrenier's in Wynantskill in the late 1960's. Joel was such a great guy and friend. I was so shocked to find out he passed away... so untimely. He was in our wedding party in 1970. Marilyn passed away last year from cancer, so learning about Joel's death made me feel doubly sad. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Peace.

I'm not much of a writer, but I know people; and it was both an honor and priviledge to have known Joel! I was saddened to learn of his untimely departure. I know he has gone to a better place where my ancestors may also get to know the man I proudly called a friend. Our years together with the 109th Civil Engineer Squadron were filled with many pleasant memories. His ability to put things into perspective combined with a great sense of humor always brought sunshine into a cloudy day. May your faith lessen your grief, and know we extend our thoughts and prayers to Joel - we will miss him!
Respectfully,

Dear Joan,
I will miss Joel's smile & heart warmning laugh and his presence at the Liberty events. His point of view & endless hours of committment on behalf of our children were greatly appreciated. I only hope you gain strength in knowing how I so look up to him & take his lead to be the best advocate I can for our children. My thoughts are with you even though I am not able to be with you at this time of sorrow. I will miss him.

Dear Joan and Family,
I was shocked and saddened in learning of Joel's death. My memories of him extend back over our years with the 109th Airlift Wing, especially when he was our First Sergeant. Joel had a wonderful way with people, as well as a remarkable ability to put things in perspective. He was definitely not one to take himself too seriously! He also knew how to get things done. I will miss his cheerful demeanor, and I will never forget his laugh! I have nothing but good memories of Joel, and I know you must be so proud of him. May the grace of our God be with you in this time of immense loss.
Most sincerely,
B

Dear Mrs. Silvernail and family, I am very saddened to learn of Joel's passing. Joel was a classmate of mine from BHS '66. He was a wonderful person and an energy source to everyone around him. I'm sure he was the same in your family. At the 2006 reunion he told me about the work he did helping people around the community with home projects. It is so kind and caring. I know that no words can ease the pain for you and your family, but know that Joel was very respected and admired, and will always be remembered as a terrific friend and wonderful person.
Sincerely, Cherie Prussien Fitzgerald

Joanie, Kristen and Kyle,
We are both so sad to learn of Joel's passing, but so thankful that he had been a part of our lives. We will always cherish the times that we had together and will remember fondly our last visit when we surprised you on our way through town. It was a wonderful afternoon visit, catching up with each other. May God bless you and give you peace as you grieve the loss of a devoted husband and father. It is obvious from other Guestbook entries, Joel was a man who was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
Our Love,
Terry and Jeanne

Dear Joan and Family -
Please accept my sincere condolences. We have lost a great friend and supporter. As you know, Joel and you started your volunteer relationship with Liberty working on our fundraisers. As Joel became more and more involved with the organization, we came to rely on his commonsense and willingness to take on any challenge as we tackled new fundraising projects. Even after he learned of his illness, he was there to help whenever his health allowed him to participate. On a personal level, I considered Joel a good friend, who was never too busy to stop and visit and share a laugh. I, and all of us at Liberty, will miss him. He was a very special individual who really did make a difference.

To the Silvernail Family:
Although I have only known Joel for 3 years I valued him as a good friend. Loyal and passionate about about anything he was involved in, he was a pleasure to be around. I will miss his energy and personality and that stong handshake every Thursday when we met.
May God give you strength during this difficult time.

Joan-
I am so saddend at the loss of a dear friend. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
When I first met Joel he was referred to as our "best" volunteer in the PR department at Liberty. He could always be counted on to assist with any task associated with a special event or the membership drive. As time went on, Joel became a dear friend to me. We spent a lot of time discussing Liberty issues, however, the times I remember most were the talks about family and personal issues, as well as Joel's retirement hobbies that included bowling and golfing. Joel never failed to ask me about my family. Recently, my parents would see you in church and would always tell me how they saw "Joel's wife, Joanie"!
Liberty and I have lost a dear, dear friend. I will always remeber Joel's caring and giving nature. You and you family are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Joan,
Receiving the notice of Joel's passing tonight is indeed a huge heartbreak. Joel was one of just a few friends I stayed in touch with from the BHS Class of 66. During our days together in school, he was always a good friend. I'm saddened that I didn't get one last chance to talk to him recently but I will never forget our last conversation in July! That will always be special to me for whatever length of time remains! Cindy and I felt especially close to you both as we have been blessed with a special needs child as well. When we had breakfast together two years ago, Joel shared some of the blessings and heartaches you two have experienced. Our bond became even closer! He has been in our prayers as now you will be. God will be a source of your strength as you go through your process of grief. Even though I cannot experience what you are going through, let me at least bare some of your grief by trying to appreciate the pain you feel. We'll be in touch in the future and will be praying for you to have strength as you celebrate Joel's short but full and abundant life! God bless you and your children!
Spence and Cindy Hallett
