Obituary of Mary C. Peters

Mary C. Peters, 87, of Johnstown, NY, has gone to her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born on May 2nd, 1929 in Cranesville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Helen Reardon and Frederick Wheaton. Mary is a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1947. She dedicated more than 30 years of service to St. Thomas Inc. formally located in Gloversville, NY. From 1972 until 1981 she was the president of Leather Goods Worker Local #260. She also proudly served many years as a Matron for the Gloversville City Police Department. Mary was a very social person who loved to travel with her family. Though she ruled with an iron fist she was a very dedicated mother and friend. She was a genuine woman who set great examples and provided incredible guidance. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and close friends. Mary is survived by her beloved son Wayne (Gail) Peters; her grandchildren, Wayne Peters II. and Aschley Peters; her step grandchildren, Bonnie, Eric, Todd, and Scott; one great grandchild and eight step great grandchildren; her sisters, Virginia Wood, Evelyn Jendrzejczak, and Eileen Person; and Max, her son's loyal K-9 partner whom she loved very much. Many more loving nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mary is predeceased by her parents Helen and Frederick; and her sisters Kathleen Porcello and Helen Bridger. A Memorial Service for Mary will be held on Sunday March 26th, 2017 at 3pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 with Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams presiding. The family will receive visitors from 2pm - 3pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
