Obituary of Helen Horney

Mrs. Helen Horney, age 88 of Priddle Point Road, Mayfield, died Saturday, September 26, at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville. She was born April 25, 1921 in Dickson City, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Daszko Barron. She resided in Schenectady for most of her life and came to this area in 1960. She was employed by General Electric Company many years ago. Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville. She was married to John J. Horney on June 15, 1946. Mr. Horney died August 3, 2002. Survivors include three children, Judy Belanger of San Diego, CA; Daniel Harney of Clifton Park and David Horney of Mayfield; a brother, Thomas Shwed of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Amy Belanger, Melissa Barr, Erica Harney, Michael Harney, Amanda Rose, Kristen Willis, Killian Horney and Bailey Horney; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
