I just heard about Terry's passing and my family and I are SO saddened. Terry was our hygenist starting about fifteen years ago when my girls were very young. We came to see her as a very special friend and were devastated when she was first diagnosed. She kept such a positive attitude and we kept the prayers going that she would beat this thing. We still have our birch tree snowman and we are SO happy we have this to remember her by. Our hearts go out to each of you....she loved her family so very much and appreciated her friendships. She will be greatly missed. What a bright, sweet spirit she brought to the world!

I'm so sadden to see Terry has passed. We only communicated at Christmas but never forgot the great times we had at BCC! Every Christmas the pass for few years left me wondering if I would hear from her. I lost her address this year when my PDA crashed. So checking online I saw the tragic news. BCC was a better place for me with Terry. I am ever so grateful to have known her for a short time. I know she must leave a big hole in your lives. I now have a big hole at Christmastime. I will miss her notes and pictures of the kids and granddaughter. I wish I could give her the news that I also have a grandson now. Everyday is a treasure not to be wasted. May you all find peace in your memories of the beautiful person Terry was. You are in my thoughts. Rose

To the family of Terry Brindle.. Bill, Nicole and Ryan.. What can I say to my best friends growing up. My neighbors and my buddys. Terry was so nice to me growing up and always made sure to treat me like her own son. Even when little Ryan and I were up to no good, playing in Spooky Hollow or throwing baseballs against the neighbors garage, Terry always made better by yelling at us , but then giving us sodas and cookies. I will never forget the cookie drawer at your house, and helping to build the upstairs addition, and just being part of your wonderful family. I dont really know what to say, but I miss you guys and I hope you can get through this. Dont hesitate to go over and see Andrea and Art if you need anything.. Love you all. Big Ryan

Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you, Bill, & your family during this difficult time. I have so many childhood memories of Terry. When Jacki and then, Bobbi got married; I was so jealous that Terry & Sandy were all dressed up and part of their weddings! Terry & I and sometimes Sandy spent many hours in my parent's basement playing with dolls in the '60's. Fast forward to 1980, Terry brought her real live, adorable Nicole over to my apartment on Kingsboro Avenue to be my little model for a photography class I took at FMCC. She had her all dressed up in a red velvet dress just as pretty as could be. I got an "A" on my assignment! I'm sure that Nicole has grown into a beautiful young woman inside & out. How wonderful that Terry was able to meet her first grandchild here on Earth. Someday there will be a reunion celebration in Heaven above. Terry just went ahead to get things ready.
Take care,
Peggy Smith Abt

Terry was the most wonderful friend; I have only great memories from our past. Bill and Family, please accept my deepest sympathies. I too have a giant hole in my heart.
Want you all to know; just moments after speaking with her, during the final days, all hell broke loose at work. Simultaneously, three unrelated unusual major issues happened. These issues kept me extremely busy for hours preventing our facility from shutting down. Those three things also kept me from falling apart.
She always thought of others first.

I'm going to share a 35+ year-old memory of Terry that I can never forget. She was 17 and had a terrific crush on this boy who did not return the favor, but toyed with her none-the-less. It was one of those evenings when she was waiting by the phone for a call that would not come, and I ached for her each time the phone rang and her heart leapt, then sank. But she greeted caller after caller with such warmth and delight you would have thought theirs was the call she was waiting for. And despite the fact that call-waiting was nonexistent in those days, not one caller got the bum's rush - she chatted like she had all day. I was stunned - that sort of generosity was foreign to the egocentric teenage me. I've spent the last 35 years wishing I could be that kind.
Sleep well old friend.

It has been my honor to know Terry Brindle. As a volunteer for the American Cancer Society she touched more lives than she'll ever know. I was moved by her speech at the Making Strides breakfast in 2007. In her own words:
"Last but not least is the importance of joy and laughter. If you dwell on your bald head, your chemo brain, and other side effects of cancer too seriously it will be a real drag. "Chemo brain" isn't nearly so bad when all of your friends are menopausal women. When I got up in the morning, I looked at myself in the mirror, and was blinded by the reflection of light bouncing off my bald head… I realized I've actually looked worse on mornings with a bad case of bed-head hair. So on those days, I put a colorful doo-rag on my head and smiled because it was a new day and I knew it would be anything but ordinary."
Terry was anything but ordinary. My cube is littered with the handwritten cards and letters she sent to me. Each one penned in sincere appreciation and always expressing her unending hope and enthusiasm for life. Even though my heart is breaking for Terry and her family I find comfort in her words and can feel her spirit surround me. Terry never gave up and I will draw on her strength to never give up until we find a cure and fulfill Terry's dream of "a future that holds no place for cancer".

Bill, Ryan, Nickie, and family: Terry was an inspiration to everyone....I have never seen her without that huge smile on her face. I remember one special moment up at Lanzi's when she was holding Leah and the joy that was written all over her face brought tears to my eyes. I told her that God couldn't have painted a prettier picture of that moment. I believe she's up in Heaven with God and all the other beautiful angels. Rest in peace dear friend.

Dear Bill, Ryan, Nicole & Family:
I have been dreading this day for so long now and I can't describe how sad I am knowing that this had to be. Terry was the sweetest, kindest and most optimistic woman I think I have ever met. Visiting her at the dentists office was such a joy for me, I don't think looking into her beautiful eyes is something I will forget as long as I live.
My deepest sympathies,
Arthur

Terry was a spiritual inspiration to everyone at North Main. My prayer for her for the last several weeks was for God to give her one more day, one more sunset, and then a wish that she would have another day and another sunset until a cure was found to save her. Our prayers are with her family now that you may all find peace in knowing how she inspired so many others with her courage and her faith. Joyce and Werner Royal Paul

Bill, Ryan, Nicole and family,
I am relieved that Terry is free from her pain. I hope you can find comfort by the words and gestures of her friends. She shared so much of herself and was a presence in so many lives. The world is a better place because she lived.
I have never known anyone like her. The very first time she underwent chemotherapy and her hair fell out, she pulled up in front of my house as I was doing lawn work. She whipped off her scarf and shouted, "Did you ever see such a beautiful bald head in all your life?" Of course she was right - I never had.
Her buoyant nature was unbelievably uplifting. She may be gone but she will not be forgotten.

Dear Bill, Nicole and Ryan, I am so sorry to hear of Terry's passing.I have known Terry since our Knox days. She was always such a joy to see.She and I would stand forever at the picture kiosk,as I helped her do wonderful family pictures. She truly adored Leah and couldn't wait to share the newest photos. She was always so appreciative of the help I gave her,but little did she know, she was a real pick me up for me,especially when I was having a tough day.I'll never forget the last words she said to me "Liz,it is always a pleasure to see you." As she walked out the door that day, I had a terrible feeling I was saying goodbye to a dear friend. She truly was upbeat and despite everything she had to endure, she always had time for others.Sleep well my friend.
Sincerely,
Liz Canfield
