Obituary of Clara T. Brumley

Mrs. Clara T. Brumley , 93 , of Amsterdam, passed away Friday March 24, 2017 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 24, 1924 a daughter of the late Wenzel and Veronica Habla Schuttig. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam schools. Clara worked for St. Mary's Hospital for over 12 years in the Housekeeping Department retiring in 1988. She was a loving mother and took great care of her family. She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married the late Robert J. Brumley on May 4, 1943. He passed away on June 10, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Robert (Jackolyn) Brumley of Amsterdam and Smith (Marylou) Brumley of Broadalbin, NY. Five daughters, Carol (David) Mann of Albany, NY, Bonnie (Sisto) Surento of Ft. Johnson, NY, Veronica (William) Bellman of Rochester, NY, Lorraine (John) Gunning of Rochester, NY and Susan Brumley of Rochester, NY. Twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Clara was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Louis, Raymond, George, Frank, Charles and Lillian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 11:15A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St. Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday March 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Memorial contributions may be made in Clara's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1007 State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
