Obituary of Arthur A. Carpenter

Arthur A. Carpenter, Sr., 78, formerly of Fonda, NY died peacefully, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Palatine Nursing Home. Born on January 23, 1931 in Palatine Bridge, NY he was the son of Edgar and Ida Mae Suits Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a lifelong area resident, and was employed as a steel worker for White Mop Wringer in Fonda, NY for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include his three sons, Willard Kathy Carpenter, Arthur Marie Carpenter, Jr., Steven Carpenter; six daughters, Sherry Eugene Culver, Jane Don Gobbel, Vivian John Grout, Theresa Hart, Angel Carpenter, Debbie Carpenter; one sister, Dorothy Sears; one half sister, Barbara Jean Carpenter; and his former wife, Lois Bebee. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Hutt. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman presiding. Burial will follow in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday afternoon one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock.
