Obituary of Olive Marilyn Streeter
Olive Marilyn Streeter, 85, of Amsterdam, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Amsterdam on May 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Leona Behlen Seeley. Olive attended local schools, graduating from Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She worked for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, in several departments; Carbon Products, the M & P Lab and the Medical Insurance Department. Olive retired from West Milton Kesselring Site's Naval Records Library.
Olive was a wonderful seamstress, making everything from curtains for our homes to Halloween costumes for the little ones. She enjoyed traveling, especially in her earlier years with the GE Women's Club. Olive got great pleasure from watching her backyard birds and deer. She would often volunteer for many years for the Arthritis Telethon and participated in numerous fundraisers for cancer research. Most of all, Olive was a loving mother, grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Stephen) Ruzzi of Burnt Hills; son, Daniel Streeter of Gloversville; sister, Ione (late Donald) Scanlon of Ithaca; grandchildren, Tricia Gowen, Sarah (Shaun) Neely, Dr. Lisa (Dr. Alan) Knott; 7 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Olive was predeceased by her former husband, Richard Streeter and her brother, Robert Seeley, Jr.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 3pm until 6pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. A funeral service for Olive will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Amsterdam.
