Obituary of Mary Jo Grandshaw

Mary Jo Grandshaw, age 63, of Johnstown passed away on Sunday November 8, 2009 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Jo was born in Gloversville on November 5, 1946 the daughter of the late Walter John and Mary Jane Wheeler Young. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1964. She was employed by the Community Health Center in Johnstown as a Nurses Aide. She retired in 2008. Mary Jo enjoyed traveling and shopping and she loved to go to the casinos. Mary Jo enjoyed being in the sun and loved to sit in the sun. But most of all Mary Jo loved spending time with her family and friends. Mary Jo is survived by her companion of 18 years Cindy Glover, a son: Todd Grandshaw of Gloversville, a sister: Penny Flynn Dan of Gloversville, two grandchildren: Ashley Gugenberger Joe of Gloversville and Edward Collins of Kentucky, and one great granddaughter: Allysandra Demarco of Gloversville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by a son: David Grandshaw and a half sister: Anna Mae Miller. A memorial service will take place at Mountain Valley Hospice on Saturday November 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mary Jo to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
