Obituary of John J. Palilonis

Mr. John J. Palilonis, 86 years old, of E. Campbell Avenue, died Monday at KingsWay Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, where he had been a patient for the past month. Mr. Palilonis was born December 27, 1923 in Amsterdam, the son of John and Mary Saldis Palilonis. He was educated in Amsterdam schools and resided in Hagaman for many years. John moved to Schenectady 30 years ago where he had since resided. He was employed by the State of New York until his retirement many years ago. John was devoted to his wife, Rita, and loved tending to their garden. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his niece Barbara and her husband Russell Terpening of Saratoga Springs, NY. He was predeceased by his sister Veronica Kaszuba. Funeral services will be held 4:00pm Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, With The Rev. Brian List officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. Friends may call from 3 until 4:00pm Wednesday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
