Obituary of Barbara J. Strauser

Barbara J. Strauser, age 73, of Gloversville passed away on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. She was born in Winona, Minnesota on January 24, 1936 the daughter of the late Theo L. and Geraldine Ipsen Maliszewski. Barbara and her family moved to Gloversville in 1947, where she attended Estee Junior High and graduated in 1954 from Gloversville High School. She had worked for Schine Chain Theatres as a personal secretary and then as a legal secretary for Haviland & Ferguson Attorneys. In 1957 Barbara married Raymond J. Strauser Jr. and in 1959 they opened, owned and operated Cro-Sen Dry Cleaners. Raymond passed away in 1991 and Barbara continued the business with her son R.J. until her retirement in 2006. Barbara was a troop leader for the Brownies, past president of the St. Mary's P.T.A., bowled in the nite-out league, loved gardening, cooking, baking but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Barbara is survived by her three children: Cynthia Wyzykowski James, R.J. Strauser III Charlene and Thomas J. Strauser and his partner Troy; five grand children: Jaime Wyzykowski, Christopher Wyzykowski, Raymond Strauser IV, Hunter Strauser and Emily Strauser. In addition to her parents and her husband Raymond, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas Maliszewski. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Friday November 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday November 28, 2009 at St. Patrick's Church in Johnstown with the Rev. Kenneth Swain officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery; Gloversville.
