Obituary of Marguerite E. Bowmaker
Mrs. Marguerite E. Bowmaker, fondly known as Peggy, of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Palatine Nursing Home at the age of 89. Born on February 25, 1920 she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Fontanella Nalli.
A lifelong area resident, Peggy was a 1937 graduate of Canajoharie High School. She worked for a time for Beech Nut in Canajoharie, before becoming a homemaker. Peggy was a former member of St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church and the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She also served on the Board of Elections.
On February 12, 1949 she was united in marriage to Francis Bowmaker. That union lasted nearly 52 years until his passing on January 28, 2001.
Survivors include her children, Karen Foley Ron Speiran of Toronto, Canada and Douglas Bowmaker Alice Countryman of Canajoharie, NY; her brothers, William "Boomer" Nalli and his wife Lena of Canajoharie, NY and Richard Nalli and his wife Mary of Hialeah, FL; her brother in law, James Bowmaker of Sharon Springs, NY; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 12 o'clock until 2 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A Legacy Candle Ceremony and Prayer Service will follow at 2 o'clock with the Rev. James E. Clark officiating. Peggy will then be laid to rest next to her husband at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 28, Canajoharie, NY 13317 or to Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, PO Box 453, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428.
