Obituary of Dorothy F. Ferraro

Dorothy F. Ferraro, 78, of Gloversville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born May 14, 1938 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Helen Evans and Ben Anderson. Dorothy worked as a manager and cook in the Gloversville School System for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother and loved her Yorkie Nikki. She was a gracious hostess to her family and friends and loved entertaining them. Survivors include her sons Gary Ferraro of Gloversville; daughter Lisa Whitt (Gary) of Baldwinsville, NY; brothers and sisters Edward Anderson (Peggy), Frances Carter, Helen Leggiero (Peter), Patty DeMaria (Guido), Bernie Andrzejewski (Helen); several grandchildren and great grandchildren Kassidy Bowering, Kalob Whitt, Bethanie Whitt and Gary Whitt. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Peter "Gary" Ferraro. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9-11 A.M. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville with Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Spring burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown will be held at a time to be announced.
