Obituary of Wavel E. Green

Mrs. Wavel E. Green, of Fort Johnson Avenue, died peacefully at home on her 96th Birthday on December 17, 2009. A lifelong Fort Johnson resident, she was the daughter of Theron and Louise Minch Geesler. Wavel graduated from AHS and the Oneonta Normal School. An educator for over 31 years for the Fonda- Fultonville Central School District, Wavel enjoyed educating the youth of our country. She enjoyed the simple things in life and will be remembered for being a humble soul. Wavel was a member of the former Grace Methodist Church, The NYS Retired Teachers Association and the Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association. On August 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to Charles C. Green. Sadly, that union lasted twelve years until his untimely passing on December 21, 1959. She was also predeceased by her brother, Alfred J. Geesler. Survivors include her nephew, Robert Geesler of Florida; two great nieces; and many friends. At Wavel's request there are no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will take place at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Free Library for Children's Programs in care of the funeral home office.
