Obituary of Rae Phillips Olson
Rae Phillips Olson died at home on April 2, 2017.
Mrs. Olson, the daughter of the late Adolph and Alma Benson Phillips, was born in Mayfield on January 17, 1925. She was a 1943 graduate of Mayfield High School and graduated in 1944 from the Gloversville Business School. She was employed as a stenographer by the Imperial Glove Co. in Gloversville and at Wilkins Glove Co. in Mayfield, and worked for many years as a postal clerk at the Mayfield Post Office.
Mrs. Olson was a member of the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Women's Association. She served on the boards of the Union Rural Cemetery and the Fulton County 4-H, was former president of the Mayfield Central School PTA, and was a member of the Mayfield Historical Society and of the Concordia Singing Society in Gloversville.
Mrs. Olson was married on June 29, 1946 to George (Alan) Olson, who survives. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles (Bug) Phillips. She is also survived by three children, Mark Olson (Toni) and Hollis Flood of Mayfield and Anne Weadon (Mark) of Crofton, Maryland; and by 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Olson's life will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 1:00 P.M. at the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 North Main Street, Mayfield, N.Y. 12117 with Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. A light luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service. Burial at Mayfield Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
