Obituary of Mary Jane Thompson

Mary Jane Thompson, 76, formerly of William Street, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. Born in Amsterdam on December 29, 1932, the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Gray Thompson. She was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School class of 1950. Mary Jane had a long career with the New York State Department of Civil Service, and retired in 1999 as a senior personnel status examiner. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Her only sibling, her brother Charles Thompson also predeceased her. She leaves her dear cousins Sandy and her husband Ray Castler and Maggie and her husband Michael Niemczyk all of Amsterdam and their families; Gary, Michael and Andrew Castler; Lori Tambasco, Sue Fowler and Betsy Niemczyk and her beloved canine pal Schnapps. A service will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Pascal A. Iannotti will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will commence at 1pm prior to the service at the funeral home. It was Mary Jane's request that contributions be made in her memory to the Montgomery Co. SPCA in care of the funeral home office. Mary Jane's family is most grateful to the staff at the Wilkinson Center for their kindness and care.
