Obituary of Elda S. Healey
Elda S. Healey, 97, of Putman Avenue passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 24, 2009 at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville. She was born in Fonda March 22, 1912 a daughter of the late Dayton and Elsie Hayes Jones.
Mrs. Healey was a life resident of the area and was a graduate of Fonda High School. She then attended Gloversville Business School before being employed, first, with Fonda Bakery, then with Oneida Markets in Fonda and Gloversville, retiring in 1973. On May 30, 1930 she was united in marriage to Francis Healey, Sr. who predeceased her on July 14, 1986.
Mrs. Healey was a devout Roman Catholic and was a parishioner of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda. She was a member of the St. Thomas Moore Secular Franciscans Order and also of the Glen Mohawk Seniors.
Her beloved family includes her son Francis Healey, Jr. and his wife Virginia of Fonda, her daughter Mary Lindquist of Redondo Beach, CA, her grandchildren Timothy Healey and wife Ellen of Fonda, Thomas Best of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Steven Best and wife Debra of Groton, MA, and Cara Tarson and husband Frank of E. Syracuse, her great-grandchildren, Jessica and Melissa Healey, Joel Tarson, and Veronica and Stephanie Best, and her great-great grandchildren Mia Grace Healey and Bailey Healey-Ovitt. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Healey was predeceased by her brothers Ralph and George Jones and her step-brother, Carlton Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 2, 2010 at 11:00A.M. St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway in Fonda with Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. as celebrant. Interment will be private.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday January 2, 2009 prior to the Mass from 9:30A.M. to 10:30A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.
