Obituary of Richard R. Cloud

Mr. Richard R. Cloud, 60 years old, of Kunkel Point Road, died Thursday, December 24, 2009, at his home. Mr. Cloud was born May 26, 1949 in Santa Monica, California, a son of Allen and Rosalie Unger Cloud. He graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1967, then from Entral State College in Connecticut with a BS degree in education and in 1991 received a Masters degree from the College of St. Rose. Rick served with the U.S. Navy from 1967 until 1973 and was assigned to the USS Bryce Canyon, the USS Nautilus and the USS Forrestal. He then served with the National Guard in Amsterdam from 1988 until 1991. Rick was employed by Kemper Insurance Co. as an authorized Nuclear Inspector from 1977 until 1983, then the Openheim-Ephrata Public School during the 1984-85 school year, coached the Canajoharie Rifle Team from 1986 until 1988 and was employed by the Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Co. as an inspector from 1990 until the time of his death. He was a life member of the Harley Owners Group, a member of the Sacandaga Chapter of Harley Owners and the Empire Chapter of Antique Motor Cycles. He also used his passion of riding to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy Charities. In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife; Donna M. Cramer whom he married in 1994, his daughter; Deja E. Matthew Donde of Gloversville, NY, two brothers; Ralph Darlene Cloud and Bill Cloud of California, his sisters; Melanie Dick Gustafson, Jan George Clough and Angela Chris Cloud all of California, a grandson; Liam Seth Donde, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rick was predeceased by his son Seth Clifford Cloud in 1998. Funeral services will be held 7:00pm Monday, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Cremation will follow at Vale Crematorium. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Rick's cremated remains will be interred in The Mayfield Cemetery in the spring of next year. Memorial contributions may be made: Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
