Obituary of Whitney J. Marten

Whitney J. Marten, age 47, of Gloversville passed away on Friday December 25, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 8, 1962 in Claremont, NH the daughter of Eugene and Ann Loomis Hersey. Whitney graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1980, Paul Smith's College in 1982 and Adirondack Community College in 2000. She worked at Nathan Littauer Hospital. An avid gardener, Whitney also enjoyed reading, writing and the outdoors. Her survivors include; her children, Rachael and Jacob Clark of Gloversville, NY and her five sisters: Ann Livingston of Broken Arrow, OK, Victoria Gannon of Saranac Lake, NY, Mary Moore of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathryn Peper of Morristown, NJ , Jane Lewis of McAllister, OK and her fiancé, James Detore of Gloversville, NY. Whitney was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Hersey. A memorial service will be conducted to celebrate Whitney's life on Thursday December 31, 2009 at 12 Noon at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Because of Whitney's love for flowers, her family welcomes floral arrangements or donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
