Obituary of Patricia A. Violyn

Patricia A. Violyn, R.N., 72, of Charles Lane, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at her home. Born in Amsterdam on November 25, 1937, the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Wisniewski Violyn, she was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute. In 1958, she graduated from the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in Boston. For the past twenty years, Pat was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, retiring in February of this year. She had worked in the same capacity in Boston, San Francisco, Hawaii and Fort Lauderdale. She leaves her son; Patrick B. Kimberly Durrance Petrie of Orlando, Fla.; sisters; Carol Slezak and Mary Ann Ronald Alukonis all of Amsterdam as well as a brother in law; Joseph Gavel; an aunt; Helen Saddlemire and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister; Kathryn Gavel, and a brother in law; William Slezak. It was Patricia's request that there be no calling hours or services. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, in care of the funeral home office. Patricia's family has entrusted her care to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
