Obituary of Vitta Damico Davis

Mrs. Vitta Damico Davis, of Flat Creek Road, Flat Creek, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 following a brief illness. A lifelong area resident, Vitta was the daughter of the late Vito and Angelina Rappa Damico. She graduated from Canajoharie High School and worked for Arkell & Smith, NBT Bank and finally Beech- Nut until her retirement. She was a devout parishioner of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of its Altar Rosary Society. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Vitta was predeceased by her brother Christopher Damico and her sisters, Margaret Vianese, Anna Stearns and Mary Thomassen. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Eugene "Gene" Davis; her daughter, Helen Durkin of Olympia, WA; her grandson, Nicholas Durkin and his wife Trisha of Richmond Hill, GA; two sisters, Angie Damico of St. Johnsville, NY and Marion Vianese of Amsterdam, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 63 Cliff Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. James E. Clark as celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery. At Vitta's request, there is no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
