Obituary of Sadie H. Gutowski

Mrs. Sadie H. Gutowski, 86, of Division St., Amsterdam, passed away Monday April 3, 2017 at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 12, 1930 a daughter of the late Jacob and Helen Jastrzebska Fura. She was a lifelong area resident and was a Graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Sadie was employed for a time at the former Consolidated Novelty in Amsterdam and later as a cook at the former Montgomery Meadows Nursing Home also in Amsterdam retiring in 1992. Mrs. Gutowski's' passion was her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking Polish dishes for her friends and family. She also loved playing Bingo and listening to polish music. She was kind and gentle and always put everyone else before herself. Sadie was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married Zefrin Gutowski Jr. on September 3, 1950. He passed away in 1955. Survivors include her two daughters, Linda (Peter) Marshall of Amsterdam and Mary Ann (Joseph) Leone III of Amsterdam. One sister Josie Bandos of Saratoga, NY . Six cherished grandchildren, PJ and Zachary Marshall, Joseph (Jen) Leone IV, Jacob (Tianna) Leone, Joshua Leone and Landrie Leone. Three great-grandchildren, Ava Marie, Alivia Sadie and Leighton Landrie Leone. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Sadie was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Gutowski , who passed away in 1970. She is also predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, William ,Frank, Stanley , John Fura and Mary Ruminski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 52 Cornell St. Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Steadwell Ave, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday April 5, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
