Obituary of Venita Christiano

Venita Christiano, age 84, of Gloversville, passed away on Thursday January 7, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with her family at her side. She was born in Adams Center, NY on June 13, 1925 the daughter of the late Harold and Edna Rima Roof. On October 10, 1959 Venita married Anthony Christiano, they just celebrated their 50th anniversary together on October 10, 2009. Venita was a homemaker and had previously worked in various office positions prior to her retirement. She had a love for flowers and music. Venita was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church choir in Gloversville. In addition to her husband Anthony, Venita is survived by seven children: Jon Christiano Jane Ross of Essex Junction, VT, Karen Lachenauer Charles of Leesburg, FL, Claudia Lake Denton of Riceville, NY, Richard Christiano of Perth, NY, Maureen Christiano of Albany, NY, Jeanine Falco Salvatore of Malta, NY and Anthony P. Christiano Anne of Remsen, NY. Additional survivors include 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two brothers Leslie Roof and Walter Roof, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, two sisters, Eleanor Gilbert and Norma Green, preceded Venita in death. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Sunday January 10, 2010 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 11, 2010 at the funeral home with the Pastor William Emmons officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Venita to the charity of one's choice.
