Obituary of Peter Mosconi

Mr. Peter Mosconi, age 87, of Gloversville, died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 following a long illness. He was born April 22, 1922 in Gloversville, the son of the late August and Mary Fanine Mosconi. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 in Panama during World War II. He and his brother William owned and operated Willie's Pizzeria in Gloversville for many years. Pete later operated Willie's Pizzeria in Caroga Lake until it was destroyed by fire in 1983. Mr. Mosconi was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. He enjoyed horseracing and bowling. He was married to Mozelle G. Ginn on July 14, 1945 who survives. Also surviving are his son, Steven P. Mosconi Barbara of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Scott Mosconi Kenyon and Amy Mosconi; and several nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his son, Paul L. Mosconi in 1997; and also by his seven siblings: Frank Mosconi, Edward Mosconi, Anthony Mosconi, Arthur Mosconi, William Mosconi, The Reverend John Mosconi and Rose Mosconi. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in the springtime at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, 847 Co. Hwy. 122, Gloversville, or to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
