Obituary of Paul Edward LaPorta

Paul Edward LaPorta, 73, of Amsterdam NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017. Born on October 23rd, 1943, he was the fourth son of the late Clara Fiorillo and Edward LaPorta. Paul attended local schools. He was employed for Brown's Transportation in Amsterdam. He earned his retirement in 2015 after 30 years of dedicated service. Paul was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time with his family and his daughter's Pomeranian, Timber, whom he loved dearly. He loved riding motorcycles, bowling, and playing poker with his family. He was a member of a family motorcycle club, The Crumb Riders. Paul is survived by his daughter Lisa Doesburg; his brother Robert (Bonnie) LaPorta; his grandchildren, Justin Hunt, Corey Hunt, Benjamin Hunt, and Caitlyn Sulem; his great grandchildren, Emma Hunt, Gavin Hunt, Veralyn Hunt, Aidan Hunt and Elliot Hunt; Many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends also survive. Paul is predeceased by his parents Clara and Edward LaPorta; and his brothers, Richard LaPorta, John G. LaPorta, and Edward LaPorta. A Memorial Service for Paul will be held on Monday April 10th, 2017 at 1p.m. at the St. Mary's Roman Church Chapel, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Interment will immediately follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery Truax Road, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the chapel prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
