Obituary of Clayton A. Rieth
Clayton A. Rieth, 77, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Gloversville, the son of the late William and Irene Longfritz Rieth. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute.
Clayton served his country proudly in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Corporal.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. He was also a member of the Johnstown Eagles and the American Legion #137 of Gloversville.
Clayton enjoyed bowling, golf, crossword puzzles and cooking. An amateur food critic of sorts, he enjoyed eating at various restaurants and rating them based on several categories. He was also a fan of the New York Yankees. Clayton will be very sadly missed.
Survivors include one brother, Elmer Rieth Flora of Gloversville; two sisters: Eleanor D'Onofrio Dominic of Gloversville and Evelyn Rieth of Boston, MA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clayton was predeceased by a brother, Victor Rieth and two sisters: Dorothy Rieth and Bessie Bohacek.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Spirit with the Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Interment will be held in the spring at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clayton's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Gloversville, NY 12078.
