Obituary of James Martin

Mr. James "Jimmy" Martin III, 58, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday January 20, 2010 in Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on March 20, 1951 a son of the late James and Antoinette Musillo Martin Jr. He was a resident of Amsterdam for most of his life and also lived in Florida, California and New Jersey. Jimmy worked for many years as a cook for his family's tavern the former Martin's Tavern on East Main St. in Amsterdam. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Jimmy is survived by a daughter, Scarlet Martin. Two sisters, Mary Lou Sobkowicz of Amsterdam, Judith Hughes Mark L. of Hagaman, NY. One Aunt, Edith Marvin Cohen of Clifton Park, NY. Nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Jim Przyblowicz, Joseph Sobkowicz, Marty Linda Hughes and Rachel Jeremy Greco. Great nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive. James was predeceased by his nephew Mark J. Hughes, Brother in Law, Joseph Sobkowicz and friend John "Jack" Trivett. Funeral services and calling hours are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
