Obituary of Lisa A. Scheidel

Lisa A. Scheidel, 30, of Carmichael Street, died peacefully Wednesday morning, January 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital following a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Amsterdam December 9, 1979 a daughter of Stacia "Stacey" Bojanowski Scheidel of Amsterdam. Lisa was a life resident of the area and was of Christian faith. She attended local schools and was a 1998 graduate of Amsterdam High School and had previously worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Lisa had a passion for life and was an individual, who never lost her positive outlook during her battle with cancer and was always looking for an alternative treatment to help her move forward. Her genuine concern for others and her caring ways marked the kind of loving individual she was. Lisa loved to spend time with her family and many friends, especially those who have been with her in these final years. She also loved dolphins, sunsets, and doing arts and crafts. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. In addition to her mother, Stacia, of Amsterdam, Lisa's loving family includes her companion of over 9 years, Don Durkin, Jr. and his daughter, Brittany M. Durkin both of Amsterdam, her sisters Elizabeth and Nancy Scheidel of Amsterdam, her brother Joey Scheidel of Amsterdam, her Godmother Kelly Flewelling of Broadalbin and her best friend, Jayme Noble of Gloversville. A Prayer Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Fr. John Medwid, officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service Friday morning from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the funeral home.
