Obituary of John Seyfried

John Seyfried, Jr., age 81, Sacandaga Road, passed away Tuesday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, with his loving family at his side. Born September 23, 1928, in Fort Johnson, NY, he was the son of the late John and Ida Hildhbran Seyfried, Sr. John attended the Lutheran Church School in Fort Johnson and he owned and operated his own Dairy farm on Sacandaga Road. He also worked for the Fulton - Montgomery Community College for over ten years, until retiring in 2002. He was a trustee for the School District No.7 in Perth. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and the Fulton County Farm Bureau. John loved spending time with his grandchildren. On March 17, 1962, he married the former Dorothy Ehmke. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons Michael Seyfried of Fultonville and Bryon Seyfried Thersa of Fort Johnson, three daughters Kathy Cox Mark of Kountz, TX, Suzanne Springer Ed of Tribes Hill, NY and Judy Powers Duane of Broadalbin; a sister Mary Elizabeth Cook David of Greensboro, NC, nine grandchildren Richard, Christopher, Katelyn, Ryan, Jessica, Allison, Sabrina, Jared and Garrick, a Great Grandson Drake and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Cynthia Leonard officiating. Burial will take place in Green Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
