Obituary of Bertha Phillips

Mrs. Bertha E."Betty" Phillips , 94 , of Amsterdam, passed away Saturday February 24, 2018 at the River Ridge Living Center, LLC, Amsterdam. Born on July 15, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Walter and Blanche Donahue Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Perth, New York and was a graduate of the Perth High School. Betty was employed for a number of years by the Mohawk Finishing Company in Amsterdam. She was a member of the Broadalbin Presbyterian Church and she was also a former member of the Broadalbin Seniors Group. Betty was active in camping with her granddaughters at "Phillips Grove" Campsite and enjoyed her trips to Florida to visit her son and her trips to Las Vegas. On April 22, 1944 she married Gerald A. Phillips who passed away on October 7, 1984. Survivors include her two sons, Raymond W. (Judith) Phillips of Perth and Russell W. (Edward McDonald) Phillips of Pompano Beach, Florida; two brothers, Richard Jones of Perth and Robert Jones of Schenectady; a sister, Ruth Quinn of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Lisa (Chuck) Phillips- Baker and Kristel (Ed) Nordby both of Perth; two great grandchildren, Jenelle (Jeff) Peterson and Sydney Velazquez; a great great grandson, Waylon Peterson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be invited at a later date to attend a graveside memorial service to be held at the Perth Cemetery, 1855 County Highway 107, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Northeastern New York, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
