I was saddened to hear about Anne's passing. I am a neighbor of hers and she always would say hi to me. We also knew each other from BPW in the early 80's. Anne was a mentor to me at that time and I will always remember her kindness and guidance to me while in BPW.

To Anne’s Family,
We were so blessed to have had Anne in our community. Her work with the Amsterdam Free Library began more than 25 years ago as part of a grassroots effort to breathe new life into the Friends of the Library. She stuffed envelops, recorded donations, sorted through volumes of books that were sold to raise funds, marched from the Library to City Hall carrying a sign pleading for more funding, helped organize a centennial celebration and became one of the founding members of the Festival of Trees committee. She found her niche in establishing book and film discussion programs. Anne became one of the go to experts for others who wanted to develop similar programs. A few weeks ago she told me how thrilled she was to receive a call from one of our original Friends members who sought her advice on helping a library in Long Island. I will remember Anne for challenging the “status quo” and never giving up on her campaign to help people understand that Amsterdam can not become a strong City without a strong Library! We are eternally grateful for all her hard work and the charming way she reached out to the community for support of the Library.
