Obituary of Florenzo Tambasco

Florenzo ?Flo? Tambasco, 88 formerly of 218 Division Street, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at the Hospice Home in Gloversville. Born in Amsterdam on January 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Anacleto and Frances Pucci Tambasco. Educated locally, he lived here his entire life. During World War II, he proudly served his country as a private in the US Army. Flo was stationed in France and Germany and received the Victory , Good Conduct and American Service Medals for his service. Flo worked for Mohawk Carpets, and later for a number of years as a custodian for the Greater Amsterdam School District. Following his retirement, he worked for a time at the Hannaford Food Store in Amsterdam. He was a parishioner of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and now Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Parish. Flo was also an honorary life member of Council 209, Knights Of Columbus. On June 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Nellie J. LaMori. She predeceased him on October 19, 2006. In addition to his parents and wife, Flo was also predeceased by his brothers Ralph Tambasco and Mareo Tambasco. He leaves his children; Anacleto ?Andy? Tambasco and his wife Joan of Amsterdam and Frances and her husband Jim Scancarello of Potsdam, NY; grandchildren; Anthony Tambasco of Staunton, Virginia, Angela Martin and her husband Justin of Rome, NY and Michael Scancarello of Cleveland, Oh.; brother Aldo Tambasco of Ballston Spa; sister, Emanuella ?Manny? Deyoe of Scotia ; sister in law, Grace Tambasco of Amsterdam and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Saturday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment will follow with military honors at St. Mary?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home where at 6:30 pm the Knights Of Columbus will gather to offer prayers for their departed brother. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice Of Amsterdam or the Mountain Valley Hospice both in care of the funeral home office.
