Obituary of Mary Ann T. Cresanti
Mary Ann T. Cresanti, 82, of Third Street, Cohoes, passed away Tuesday evening peacefully at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 27th 1928, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Cassandro Cresanti, she was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later St. Mary's Hospital School Of Nursing. She later entered the Community of the Sisters Of St. Joseph Of Carondelet and worked at the former St. Joseph's Home in Troy. She served as a nursing supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She later graduated Cum Laude from D'Youville College in Buffalo and went on to earn a degree as a nurse practitioner from Wayne State University specializing in family health. Mary Ann served as Assistant Director of Nursing Services at Samaritan Hospital in Troy and the Whitney Young Health Center . For fifteen years, she was Consultant For Nursing Community Services for the State Of New York and supervised home health care services. She remained as a Practice Issue Consultant for the Nurse Practitioner Association Of New York until her recent illness. Mary Ann was a member of the Board Of Directors of the New Dimensions In Health Care, St. Mary's Hospital Alumni Assoc., American Cancer Society Task Force and the Kappa Gamma Pi National Honor Society. She was a parishioner of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Latham.
Her loving family includes her brothers, Vincent J. Cresanti of Amsterdam and Gennaro Cresanti of Clifton Park; sister, Elaine L. Cresanti of Amsterdam; niece, Kirsten Philip Malnarick, nephews, Michael, Joseph Deborah, and William Susan Cresanti; grandniece Jordan, grandnephews, Joseph, Adam, Alexander and Evan Cresanti and her dear feline pal of twenty years, "Pookie". Mary Ann will forever be remembered by her family as a caring, practical and treasured sister and aunt, always offering guidance and support whenever needed.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday at 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, Amsterdam. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson. In lieu of flowers, it was Mary Ann's wish that contributions be made in her name to Mt. Carmel Memorial Fund, or the Sister's Of St. Joseph Of Carondelet in care of the funeral home office.
