Obituary of Ruth C. Weiner

Ruth C. Weiner, 86, of Gloversville, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010. She was born October 4, 1923 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Hyman and Tillie Epstein Cohen. Ruth was united in marriage to Harold Weiner on September 15, 1946. He predeceased her in 1997. She was co-owner of Weiner's Electronics in Gloversville until her retirement. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Community Center in Gloversville and also Knesseth Israel Synagogue. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, mah-jongg and especially traveling with her late husband. Most of all, Ruth loved to be with her family. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include two sons: Sanford Weiner of Newton, MA and Robert Weiner Barbara of Gloversville; a daughter, Nancy Weiner of Cambridge, MA; two grandchildren: Michael Weiner Caitlin of San Diego and Sarah Weiner of Boston, MA; one sister, Claire Myzal of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will take place Thursday, March 18 at 1 p.m. at Knesseth Israel Synagogue in Gloversville with Rabbi Martin Gordon officiating. Interment will be at Knesseth Israel Cemetery on Clyde Street in Gloversville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 East Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
