Obituary of Jennie Ragusa

Jennie Ragusa, age 98, of Gloversville passed away on Friday March 19, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She was born in Manhattan, NY on January 6, 1912 the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rosario Garofalo Mongato. She moved to Gloversville as a child and was educated in Gloversville schools. On September 23, 1934, Jennie married Peter Ragusa. He preceded her in death in 1983.. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and the frequent family poker games. Jennie is survived by her daughters; Vincie Carlton Bell of Kingston, Rosena Ashley/A.J. Hayes of Gloversville and Dolores LaGreca of Gloversville. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Mongato of Boynton Beach Florida. Additional survivors include: seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews. Her sister-in-law Martha Mongato of Caroga Lake, and brother-in-law Anthony Vezzi of Gloversville survive Jennie as well. In addition to her husband and parents, Jennie was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Mongato and sisters: Belle Ardizzone, Frances Garofalo, Rose LaBarca and Josephine Vezzi. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Monday March 22, 2010 at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home; 51 Fremont Street; Gloversville. A prayer service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon immediately following calling hours, with the Rev. Kenneth Swain officiating. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
