Obituary of Robert Cole Younglove

Robert Cole Younglove, 92, of Latham, NY, passed away peacefully the evening of April 15, 2017 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born on September 20, 1924 in Albany, NY he was the son of the late David and Edna Cole Younglove. A lifelong area resident, Bob graduated from Ilion High School. He served proudly in the United States Coast Guard during WWII; he later was employed by NYS Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and a communicant of the former St. James Parish in Fort Plain. He was also a member of the Fort Plain- Canajoharie B.P.O.E. #2621, The American Legion and the V.F.W. Mohawk Valley Post No. 3275. Bob's passions in his life included his family, friends and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. He was an avid reader, card player and conversationalist. Bob kept the Younglove family history alive by retelling wonderful stories of his youth. In his retirement, Bob enjoyed playing Billiards at the Carom Club in Little Falls, playing cards at the Ft. Plain VFW and conversing with longtime friends at the 5S Diner over a cup of coffee each morning. Bob was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Bob was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Dillon for over 61 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Owens of New Hartford; and a brother, James Younglove of Ilion. Bob leaves behind to cherish is memory, his daughter Linda Laccetti and her husband John of Latham; his son, Robert Younglove and his wife Ellen Drennan Younglove of Amsterdam; four cherished grandchildren, Jordan Laccetti and his wife Elaine of Saratoga Springs, Alex Laccetti of Latham, Lynda Younglove Casey and her husband Adam of Haleiwa, Hawaii and Robert Younglove of Amsterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 9a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with the Rev. James Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
