Obituary of Nicholas Liscio

Nicholas Liscio, 92, recently of Schenectady, formerly of Nelliston, NY died peacefully Friday, April 2, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, two days shy of his 93rd birthday. He was born in Little Falls, NY April 4, 1917 eldest son of the late Carmelo and Josephine Servideo Liscio. Nicholas spent nearly his whole life residing in Nelliston. He was employed by New York Central Railroad for over 41 years, working on track maintenance, retiring in 1977. From 1942 to 1945 he served his country with the US ARMY and was stationed at Camp Polk, Louisiana in the 7th Armored Division, and then in Alaska where he served on the Railroad Battalion as a Radio Tender. Nicholas was a quiet, hardworking man who dedicated his life to his interest in trains, whether it was working side by side with them or just watching them pass by. Like his brother Frank, Nicholas was artistically talented and will be fondly remembered for these traits. He is survived by his youngest sister Caroline Waghorn of Herkimer, NY and his youngest brother Joseph Lisco of Fort Plain, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, Nicholas was predeceased by his siblings Frank Liscio, Leonard Lisco, Mildred Doyle and Theresa Boslet. At Nicholas?s request, there will be no public calling hours. A Graveside Service with full Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Fort Plain Cemetery, Clyde Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Cynthia Leonard, officiating.
