Obituary of Edward L. Borst

Edward L. Borst, age 77, of Clinton, NY, died Saturday evening, April 10, 2010 at St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, NY. He was born July 25, 1932 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Leland and Mary Reddy Borst. He was a graduate of Amsterdam High School and later worked at the former Mohawk Carpet Mill. He then attended Utica College and also attained his Master's Degree in Education. Edward resided in Whitesboro for about twenty years before moving to Utica where he lived for about thirty years. He was employed as a school teacher by the Whitesboro School District until his retirement in 1987. He lived in the Clinton area for the past five years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Utica where he was a former Sunday school teacher. An avid outdoorsman, Edward was also a world traveler. He was a member of the Adirondack Club in Glens Falls. Survivors include his sister, Elaine A. Balzano of Gloversville and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Borst. A Memorial Mass will be held on April 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of The Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville.
