Obituary of Elizabeth Elliott

Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Elliott, 93 years old, died Tuesday at Kirkhaven Nursing Home in Rochester, New York. She was born February 17, 1917 in Schenectady, daughter of the late Harry and Jenny Walton Bollacker, and was educated in Schenectady schools. Betty was a longtime resident of Amsterdam and resided in the Rochester area for the past 5 years. She had been employed by the Navy Depot during WW2 as a forklift operator, then by Bigelow Sanford in Amsterdam until 1955, and by Seven-Up in Springfield, MA until 1960. Betty then went to work for Guardian Life Insurance Co. in Albany until 1972 before finishing her career with the Barnett Agency in Amsterdam, retiring in 1986. She and her husband were long time members of the Sacandaga Boat Club and were active with the Perth Seniors. Betty's husband, Herbert Elliott, whom she married June 9, 1933, died July 16, 2000. She is survived by her children: David C. Elliott of Margate, Florida, Harry R. Elliott of Siesta Key, Florida and by Claudia J. Elliott of Pittsford, New York. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her eldest son Herbert D. Elliott in 2004. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Dan Wheeler officiating. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
