Obituary of Amelia Bombardatore
Amelia "Millie" Bombardatore, 91 years old, of Division Street, passed away Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam on August 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Giovanna D'Alessandro Bombardatore. She attended Amsterdam Schools and was a lifelong area resident. Millie was employed for over 20 years as a glove maker for the former Amsterdam Glove Company, retiring in 1982.
A communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of its Santa Sofia Society, the St. Anthony Congrega and the St. Rita Sodality.
Millie had many cherished friends and she enjoyed having visitors to her home and being able to cook for them. Her loving family includes her surviving sisters, Carmella Kazlauskas and Jean Patrick Eliseo, both of Schenectady; her step-sister Rose DaBiere of Wells, Maine; her sister-in-law, Connie Bumbardatore of Schenectady; her special nephews, Daniel Lorri and Claude Cynthia DeRossi, of Amsterdam; her nieces Nancy Ralph Rusilas, Josephine Gilbert Uhlinger, Joanne Richard Vincent and Joanne Todd Langley; her nephews Frank Rosemarie Bumbardatore, Jr. and Michael Eliseo Celine Dell, several cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Her special friends; Ann Stellato, who treated her like her mother, Anna Marie Stellato and Chris Sampson.
She was pre-deceased by a brother, Frank Bumbardatore and five sisters; Rose and Josephine Bombardatore, Angeline DeRossi, Susie Gambardella and Mary DeCicco; step-sister Louise Machold; step-brothers Edmund, Rolando and Aureliano DeRossi; her niece Diane Kazlauskas; her nephews Patrick Langley, Jason Eliseo and Santo DeCicco.
Funeral services will be held 8:15am Monday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Pascal Iannotti officiating. Burial is in St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4 until 6:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made: St. Michael's Church or to Albany Medical Center Children's Pediatric Oncology Unit in memory of Patrick Langley.
