Obituary of Mary LaGreco Lasky

Mary LaGreco Lasky, 93, of Wall Street, Amsterdam, died peacefully Friday, April 30, 2010 at E.L. Wilkinson, Residential Heath Care in Amsterdam. She was born in Rome, NY January 17, 1917 daughter of the late Frank and Mary DeFina LaGreco. Mary grew up in Rome, NY and attended schools there. She married Walter Lasky of Amsterdam September 10, 1938. Following 55 wonderful years of marriage, he predeceased her October 7, 1993. Mary was a devout roman catholic and was a former parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel and St. Stanislaus churches where she was active in both parishes. She worked at Mohawk Carpet in Amsterdam for over 20 years and was an Avid BINGO player and enjoyed going to OTB. Her loving family includes her son Robert Lasky of Amsterdam, her special nieces and nephews Paula and Wayne Dapre of Utica, Barbara and Robert Pabis of Amsterdam, and Roger and Arlene Countryman of Pensacola, FL, and her brother Anthony "Tony" LaGreco of Rome. Several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at E.L. Wilkinson, RHCF 1st floor and the staff of Community Hospice for the compassionate care Mary received during the past few weeks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15AM on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with Fr. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY.
