Obituary of Adelina Christiano

Adelina "Lena" Christiano, age 98, of Gloversville, died Thursday morning, April 20, 2017 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville, where she had resided for the past five years. She was born September 29, 1918 in Gloversville, the daughter of Joseph and Angeline DiCiero Salvatore. She worked as a glove maker at various glove shops in the area including Grandoe Corp; Gates Mills, Rubin Gloves and Daniel Hayes Co. Lena was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Christiano of Las Vegas, Nevada and John Christiano (Susan) of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Amie Christiano and Peter Christiano (Jennifer); two great-grandsons, Grayson Christiano and Asher Christiano, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Peter V. Christiano; a son, Frank Christiano; her brother and two sisters, Frank Salvatore, Anne Gentile and Irene Rizzo and also by her parents. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 to 2:00PM Sunday, April 23 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, where a prayer service be held 9:15am Monday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville or to Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, 99 E. State St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
