Obituary of Ralph Acquilla

Mr. Ralph Acquilla, age 75, of Gloversville, died Sunday morning, May 9, 2010 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility. He was born October 19, 1934 in Troy, NY, the son of the late Patsy and Lena Wilson Acquilla. He was a self-employed tractor trailer driver for many years and also drove for Bornt Waste and Metal, Inc. Ralph was a member of the Fulton County Antique Car Club and the Ephratah Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiling, watching NASCAR and attending races at Fonda Speedway. He loved to spend time socializing with his friends at the Stewart's Shop on E. Fulton Street and also as a guest at the Masonic breakfasts at St. Patrick's Lodge in Johnstown. He is survived by his wife, Rosalind Bornt Acquilla whom he married on May 29, 2002 and her children, Jeffrey Whitehouse and his wife Susanne and James Bornt and his wife Georgette. Ralph is also survived by his daughter, Robin L. Curtin of Gloversville, as well as his five grandchildren: Adam Curtin and his wife Rita and their son Dain Orion, Daniel Curtin and his wife Rebecca, Christopher Curtin, Jeffrey Curtin and Shanna Curtin. The grandchildren's father, James Curtin, also survives, as well as several cousins. A private graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ralph's life which will take place on Friday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Lanzi's On The Lake, State Route 30, Mayfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
