Obituary of Betty I. La Vallee

Mrs. Betty I. La Vallee, age 83, of Johnstown, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born February 25, 1927 in Rutland, VT, the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian King Brown. She worked for a brief period of time as a nurse's aide at Nathan Littauer Hospital prior to the years she spent raising her family. Mrs. La Vallee was of catholic faith, and was a former member of the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Club. Betty was married on August 26, 1950 to John J. La Vallee who survives. Also surviving are: her four children, Sharon A. Coco Louis John, Jr. of Nashua, NH, Michael J. La Vallee Ann Marie of Rockwood, Edward J. La Vallee Karen of Weare, NH and Daniel J. La Vallee of Johnstown; 9 grandchildren, Carrie McLaughlin, Louis John Coco, III, Ginger La Vallee , Amber Steele, David Leibowitz, Elizabeth La Vallee, Nicholas La Vallee, Linda Rackmyre and David Rackmyre, Jr; 11 great-grandchildren and several cousins. She was preceded in death by another son, William J. La Vallee, whose wife, Bonnie La Vallee, survives. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 27 with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
